How to judge roofing work

A roof is the one system that protects every other part of a building, which is why the way a contractor inspects matters more than the brochure. A thorough look covers flashing, penetrations, valleys and decking — not just the field of shingles — because that is where water actually finds its way in.

Roof lifespan depends more on installation quality and attic ventilation than on the material alone. Poor ventilation cooks shingles from underneath, and incorrect nailing patterns void many manufacturer warranties. The useful questions to ask any roofer are about process and sequence, not only price.

We had a roof leak on the flal roof portion of our older home, which Roland's had very capably fixed a couple years prior. Since our roof has a drain that clogs from time to time, and older concrete tiles on the parapet, we didn't know what the problem was. Robert took a look and immediately recognized it was a clogged drain He cleaned it out and then charged us $0 for the climb, the cleaning and the assessment of the problem. No charge because we were good customers!! Not only that, but Bobbi in the office and Robert the roofing tech manager were both very friendly and helpful. Roland's is the best; you gotta give them a call!

Huge shout out to Melissa for making it all possible for us, 55+, to get a new roof! She helped expedite the HOA approval and always went above & beyond! Her crew was very professional. I had seen quite a few roofers in my community and was not impressed with how they presented their companies. Roland’s Roofing Co crew took the time to protect all my landscaping with a tarp, cleaned our gutters while they were there, moved all our patio furniture and then put everything back when they were done. Some neighbors I spoke with said their roofing crew didn’t come close to the detailed service we received. I definitely recommend with absolutely no reservations!
